Joy of All Who Sorrow is a mission parish of the Orthodox Church in America (OCA), located in Marina Del Rey, California. We are a church for all people — every age, background, and walk of life — offering a place to pray, to belong, and to find peace.
Father John grew up in an Italian Catholic family in Michigan. The upheaval of Vatican II sent him on a search that took him through Eastern religious practices and to the Holy Land, where he experienced a call to give his life to God. He returned to the US, got his teaching credentials and built a life of faithfulness. He and Deborah were received into the Orthodox Church in 1988 and ordained to the priesthood in 2000 — mentored along the way by Russian Orthodox monks, abbots, and bishops.
Deborah is a compassionate leader and curator of the Archangel Michael Orthodox Bookstore.
